Students at IIT Kharagpur, are innovative and many ideas float though their minds. Due to lack of proper mentorship or a go-to-person, very few are able to turn these ideas into full fledged working projects. Through the Incubation Program, mentors can accelerate the growth of such project ideas and help students by providing them various support required to make it possible. This will promote the students on building projects on their own and research culture of the institute will improve a lot. -->
Students at IIT Kharagpur, especially from our department, are interested in pursuing their passion in the up and coming research areas ranging from humanoid robotics to quantum computing. Unfortunately, as these research areas are relatively recent, only a few professors of our department work on them. In contrast, alumni from our department, at various labs across the world, are driving the research in these areas forward. Interested students can be paired with these alumni to work on their areas of interest. This would not only increase the research output of our institution but also lead to more and more students pursuing higher studies. Often, alumni have interesting project ideas but do not have the required time bring them to fruition. These projects can be floated for the students of our department to work on. -->

Our institution has a very strong career development centre for corporate internships but the research internships opportunities are few and far in between. Various alumni from our department are currently pursuing research in renowned labs across the world.
